Lecture transcription for students

Updated

You can't write as fast as a professor talks. Record the lecture, get the full text, and spend your time understanding instead of scribbling.

In the lecture hall

  1. Sit near the front or near a speaker, then open Transcription and tap Record and Transcribe.
  2. Lock your phone; the recording keeps going.
  3. Add quick notes on paper with the time when something is important (“14:20 exam topic!”).

After class

Transcribe online for the best accuracy, or on-device if you're offline or on a limited data plan. Lecture recorded on video? Import the video from the course platform instead and get the exact wording.

Lectures in another language

Transcription supports 120+ languages, so exchange students can transcribe in the language of the lecture and read along, which is often easier than following by ear.

FAQ

Can I record a two-hour lecture?

Yes. Recording continues with the screen locked; make sure you have enough storage and battery, or plug in.

Is it allowed to record lectures?

Check your university's policy and ask the lecturer. Many allow recording for personal study, and accessibility services can grant permission.
